[She touches her fingers lightly to the bridge of her nose. The frustration is washed out of her voice; she just sounds tired. She’s struggling to reconcile her time on the Barge with two days spent at home that as good as eliminated those memories; it’s wearisome.]

I left in August, it appears I’ve returned in February, so the question now is whether my absence can be measured in months or years. I’m dying to know.

For those of you who recognize me, I’m pleased to say that my memory is intact. [Largely. Not as much as she’d like.] For those who don’t, my name is Poison Ivy. I have previously been an Inmate here for almost two years, so rolling out the welcome wagon isn’t necessary. I would like to know whether the greenhouse has finally fallen into Warden management, and if so, whose.

Bugger me, Ivy!

I'm as glad as I can be to see you, considering 'ow you feel about being 'ere.

And them seeds are on a moon with atmosphere, belonging to a planet with some very strictly enforced laws about who gets to go near its moons. They're doing well. It's been more'n a year; Zane looks after the greenhouse.

[Zev's seedlings. Thank God she had the foresight to get them off the Barge. Her cabin has been reset, essentially; everything she accumulated in her time here previously has gone. As for Zane, that's. Interesting for a number of reasons. Hopefully her attempts at plant appreciation training paid off.]

No. Disappeared after the last run-in with the mirror barge. Quite a few of us did. Harvey went too - graduated, mind you. I've seen 'im since, on my travels. There's 'ardly anyone left from your time any more, I should think, only oldtimers like me and Riddick and Arthas. Babs is still 'ere, of course, and Steph, but a different version.

[The smile at the news of Banner's disappearance is small and fleeting but it's there. Harvey's graduation she'll take with a pinch of salt.]

Any structural changes that I ought to be aware of?

[She should really go out and establish this for herself, but her plants are feeling a bit 'mommy what's going on, where are our friends :(' so she doesn't feel she can leave them alone just yet.]

[There's a little wry flash in Iris' smile: she knows perfectly well she and Ivy felt very differently about Harvey, except for that one time Ivy saved her from being demoted by delivering a righteous beating. They were perfectly in accord then, all right.]

Greenhouse is bigger: basically the whole of what used to be the garden's inside it now. CTS and CES got amalgamated into one big environment you can program a lot more than we used to back in the day. We lost the teaching annexe, ice rink, music room and the spa, but Ben 'as the music room attached to 'is cabin and I've got the spa attached to mine. And the ...I don't know, the flavour of the population's changed some. A lot more youngsters. Fewer 'ard cases. Let 'ope it suits you better, eh?

[Last year she might have gotten a bit bristly at the suggestion that 'fewer hard cases' would suit her; she'd have taken it as an accusation of weakness. Now, she accepts that's Iris is referring to her mom instincts and she can't deny those.]

[Somewhat dryly:] ...There was an ice rink? After my time.

There was! I loved it, but you know 'ow it is, we never get to keep nice things.

...mind you, the new Enclosure ought to give us frozen lakes on demand now, I never thought of that till this second. Maybe I can get that ice hockey team started after all.

Last real bloodbath round 'ere was when we 'ad a bad case of the clowns. Got across from the mirror barge with parasitic nanites, the gobshite.

...I assume the 'mirror Barge' is what I'd expect it to be.

[Since she's mentioned it twice now it probably merits an explanation.

Ivy managed to be here for exactly the window of time in which there were no mirror floods. Hooray?]

You managed to miss the mirror barge? Good work. If I tell you the Joker's one of the wardens on that side...do I need to say more?

We collided with it, back in October. Mix and matched our people and theirs till our Admiral beat theirs into submission, basically. I spent a month stuck over there. My other 'alf bloody nearly graduated on this side, mind you. I'm proud of 'er.

Interesting. Any indication from 'our' Admiral that this might happen again?

Not from the Admiral. Which isn't to say it won't, obviously - but for a long time we were linked, the other barge was feeding on us. We 'ad a lot of people down sick with it. I know that's been put a stop to. Jean sort of supervised that part of it and I trust 'er to know what's what.

We might've even destroyed it. Not that I'd actually put money on that, but I reckon it'll be a good long while at least.

The ship does return to certain themes from time to time. I doubt this will be an exception, long term.

[And Ivy doesn't anticipate being here for anything shorter.]

Ivy doesn't express her deep-rooted loathing, but she doesn't need to, not to someone who witnessed so much of her time here. Caught between sympathy, defensiveness and her slightly guilt-shot gladness at Ivy's return, she only nods and concentrates on the facts.]

I've encountered the type. Speaks to the change of population that nobody's taken it on themselves to beat some sense into her.

Mmm. Our job's to do that without beating, but I admit it could be quicker. I like 'er a lot, as it 'appens, but it almost 'urts to watch 'er talk to some people.
