She watched her forest slaughtered and called it compromise. Hundreds of years ago she made a truce with a man who had nothing to offer her, out of pity, and he repaid her with the slow inevitable exploitation of her family.  Of everything that she was.  And in exchange for petty, fleeting pleasures, she accepted it. 

I am not her. I will never be her. And I do not apologize.

What I understand is that she sacrificed her family out of pity for a man too weak to protect his own. She lost everything and gained nothing. If that's 'compromise' I want no part of it.

Loath as I am to point out the obvious so that you can pick it apart from a position of severely limited understanding, her forest was torn apart. Her trees were killed in their hundreds - for fuel, paper, furniture, the satisfaction of human needs.

She had an untouched paradise, and she was left with its ruined shadow and she didn't care.

Hundreds were killed - but they didn't bulldoze the whole forest. They took what they needed.

Sometimes people choose to sacrifice themselves for others. Trees can't choose the same?

Do I think that any part of the Green would suddenly find itself subject to human sentiment? No. And it's pathetically naive of you to think otherwise.

It's always just been a tree to me, you know. Non-sentient. It's not exactly the easiest thing in the world, trying to understand something I didn't know could be understood.
