She watched her forest slaughtered and called it compromise. Hundreds of years ago she made a truce with a man who had nothing to offer her, out of pity, and he repaid her with the slow inevitable exploitation of her family. Of everything that she was. And in exchange for petty, fleeting pleasures, she accepted it.
