It's alright. They communicate but they don't experience loneliness - or any other emotion, in the way human would experience it. Their needs are simple. They want to live, grow and reproduce in a healthy environment. They feel things analogous to happiness, fear, pain - but loneliness isn't something they understand.

[Ther's something unindentifiable in her voice. Maybe the smallest trace of envy.

She looks down at the twig in her hand and it's started to sprout slender colourless roots.]
