[Theoretically....T'Pol's problem is that there's too much theory in her control, and less practice. She is, however briefly, intensely jealous of this other T'Pol for her apparent control. She doubts her mirror-self ever saw the need to adopt Human characteristics.

T'Pol cocky her head to the side, shoulder shifting in a vague shrug as she tries to bury the emotion.]

Empathy has no role in survival. I can only assume Vulcans in her universe were free to perfect their emotional control.
